It’s been a zoo

August 7, 2012

I was reminded yesterday by a newcomer to town (nice to meet you, Ranger Tom!) that I have not posted in quite some time.

Sorry about that, blogfans.

I’ve been pretty busy working on the leadup to the merger between the Farm And Ranch Museum and the North Platte Valley Museum, among other things.

And it’s been generally zoo-y at NPVM – figuratively and literally.

First, it was a young starling trapped inside the museum caboose.

Then, I discovered and rescued a young plains garter snake from a spider web in the museum storage building. (Who knew spiders could catch snakes?!?)

We’ve been getting daily visits from a jailbunny this summer. Smart little baby bunny has been using the old Gering jail cell on the museum grounds as a shelter. No predators can get him in there!

And finally (I hope finally!) – a buck showed up at the museum one morning and hung out in the lawn for about a half-hour. This photo was taken from my office window.

I hope to get some more posts out there soon! (Provided I don’t have to work on the weekend.)
