Scottsbluff winter farmers market mitten tree
I have not yet posted this season about the Scottsbluff winter farmers market, which is pretty goofy, seeing as I pretty much never miss a market. Shame on me!
The market has found a new home this year in a greenhouse at Aulick’s TLC (3109 Ave B Scottsbluff), and the ambiance there is fantastic!
The winter sunlight coming through the greenhouse really warms up the interior and makes it feel almost like summer again!
I could have posted photos of the nummy things I’ve gotten and seen at the market already this season, except that I’ve eaten or given away everything I’ve purchased, and I’ve been too busy talking to friends at the market to take pictures of everything. You’ll have to be tantalized by a list instead:
Artisan bread, goat milk lotion, CUPCAKES!, eggs from happy chickens, homemade jelly and jam, pepper pesto, smoked chicken, goat cheese (including a gift tin sampler), potatoes, leeks, squash, garlic, cabbage, pottery, honey, granola, sweet breads, cookies, aprons, jewelry, soy candles, brats, herbs, recycled-sweater scarves, noodles, pet collars, gluten-free products
If you need some last-minute Christmas or hostess gifts, there will be a special market on Friday, Dec. 23, from 4-7 p.m. (though the ambiance of the winter sun will be lacking).
As with every market, there will be a featured charity marketgoers can support. This week’s charity will be a mitten tree for the Lakota Lutheran Center. Please bring mittens, hats, gloves and scarves to add to the tree.
As an added incentive to bring the family, at 5 p.m. Mrs. Santa Claus will host a story time and read “The Mitten Tree.”
If you happen to miss the special Christmas market, fear not! There will be plenty more winter markets to attend: January 14 & 28, February 11 & 25, March 10 & 24, and, weather permitting, a couple of outdoor markets April 7 & 21.
Happy market shopping!
