Bacon cupcakes

“Bacon” and “cupcakes” – two items that have been on lists of all-things-trendy lately.

I found them COMBINED (Yes! Combined!) at the downtown Scottsbluff farmers market recently.

Picture a tasty yellow cake, flecked with bacon bits (REAL bacon!). Top with sugary maple icing and more bacon bits (REAL bacon!). This is what you get:

The cupcakes were gluten-free to boot, for those who might have trouble digesting that particular protein composite.

You just never know what goodies you might find at the farmers market! You might not find bacon cupcakes again, but I can pretty much guarantee that tomorrow’s market will be a great place to buy pumpkins and squash, among other things. (I won’t be at the market this week – I’ll be volunteering for the WNNC Fall Frolic all morning.)

The market has two sessions left for the season: this Saturday and October 22, from 7 to 11 a.m. Go see what you can find!

PS – this first bimonthly winter farmers market will be November 12 at Aulick’s TLC 3109 Ave B Scottsbluff from 1 to 4 p.m.
