Downtown farmers market open for the season on Saturday

It really snuck up on me, but I’m definitely ready for it. The downtown Scottsbluff farmers market starts up this weekend! Woohoo!

It’s pretty early in the season yet, so there probably won’t be heaps of veggies yet, but I’m sure there’ll be some.

Here is the first photo I took of my weekly haul from LAST year’s market, just to entice you. The stamp on the photo says I uploaded it on August 4, 2010.

Two kinds of bread, peaches, zucchini, sweet corn, green beans, spaghetti squash, salsa, jam, soap, forage-fed ground beef, cinnamon rolls that about made my toes curl with delight

Check out the Downtown Scottsbluff Farmers Market Facebook page for updates, but at the very least this July 2, there will be bedding plants, baked goods for your July 4th shindigs, and . . . are you ready for this? . . . BACON jam. (Honestly, I don’t get the whole bacon trend. I’m waiting for Ben and Jerry’s to come out with a bacon ice cream.)

    And don’t forget about the pastured poultry for your 4th of July grilling and farm fresh eggs and all-natural 100% grass fed ground beef all from the Open A Bar 2 Ranch!!
