Girls night out at the Midwest

January 28, 2011

The Midwest Theater hosted a fundraiser “girls’ night out” a few weeks ago. Just now getting around to posting about it.

There was a chick flick (“You Again“), and the wearing of pajamas was encouraged.

There was karaoke, lubricated by a cash bar.

Suella Hanlon, in the pink caftan, was one of the karaoke instigators.

As usual, the back of the theater was the most crowded.

Because the movie starred Betty White in a supporting role, and because Betty White is a big thing now, after her Superbowl commercial and her SNL appearance, there was also a Betty White look-alike contest.

The contest was emceed by Suella Hanlon (dressed as Blanche Devereaux) and Teresa Swank (not pictured) and judged by the Scotts Bluff County Miss and Teen.

The victorious Betty White reacts to her winnings, which included an apron that read "Love my muffins."

Oh, and there was also a silent auction. I won the gift basket, which included white popcorn and white wine.

Anyone up for a Golden Girls marathon?

The Midwest Theater has such fun events. I enjoyed last year’s Valentines Day champagne bucket, and I’m looking forward to this year’s event (which will be February 12 – movie TBA Love and Other Drugs).
