A little post to cool you down

August 1, 2010

Here in western Nebraska, the water that flows past us in the North Platte River comes from up in the mountains, including the Snowy Range.

Here is some of that water in early July:

Ahhhh, yes. The water is still veeeerrrry cold as is cascades down through the rocky Wyoming terrain. Wade in up to your knees, and your legs will progress from burning with cold to numbness in under a minute.

Such a lovely thought on a hot August 1st. The cool, clear running water of a mountain stream . . . so inviting . . .

Wait . . . why am I suddenly thinking of a beer commercial?

Ahhhh, thanks Katie. Just what I needed on this hot, dry August day in Western Nebraska! I was blessed to live in the mountains of Colorado (Winter Park) for almost 10 years so I truely know the feeling associated with cool, clear mountain steams.

Burning cold to numb seems such a lovely thought these last several days…
