Vegetable season is in full swing
I’ve not been posting about the farmer’s market like I have in the past. I just don’t have time. BUT, I wanted to make sure to let people know that the fruit and veg are finally getting rolling.
I’ve not seen tomatoes yet, but there was onion, potato, peas, green beans, beets (and beet tops), peppers, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, cabbage, lettuce, garlic, broccoli, yellow squash, eggplant, potatoes, kohlrabi, turnip, basil, dill, cilantro, fresh coriander seed, kale, rainbow chard, and yes, Lavon, sweet corn.
Here was a recent meal with farmer’s market goods:
Golden beets from Mitchell Valley Farm (roasted in the microwave – takes 10 minutes) soaked in lemon juice and olive oil with goat feta from Victory Hill Farm on lettuce from Meadowlark Hearth and some store-bought pecans, served with olive bread from Mama Jane.
Another meal consisted of grilled burgers from Open A Bar 2 Ranch and grilled sweet corn.
Jealous? Head to the market Saturday and get some goods for yourself.

Wonderful post–love what the Everets are doing!
Delicious! I’ve been dining on fresh veggies from my tiny garden. I’d never eaten a fresh beet before this year (just those purple pickled “things” on salad bars, yuk). Ain’t nuthin’ like fresh!
